...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...it's all about the babies now...this is going to be a star pillow...
...I'm just making a bunch of these diamonds...(10 to be exact...front and back for a five point star)...and then I'll sew them together to form a baby sized star pillow...
...and over at the Parish Hall...the floors are finished...
...they're so shiny and pretty...
...a closeup of the textured epoxy finish...

...over the weekend...

...pancakes were consumed...
...guacamole was made...
...a new smoothie was tried...more of a juice really...
...just cranberry juice and frozen blueberries...tangy and sweet and pretty yummy...
...an avocado pit split...that's a very good sign...I've tried numerous times to get an avocado to grow...with really limited success...so I'm thrilled...
...the very first yellow squash of the season was breaded and baked...
...and the very first zucchini of the season was Foreman-grilled...
...the little bit of cornmeal leftover over from breading the squash was frugally used to bake a very small crispy cornbread/cookie...
...garbanzo beans were pressure cooked...and aqua-faba was frozen...
...and squirrels were observed in the backyard...
...these two little guys (more likely a guy and a girl) scampered and played all over the back yard...driving Jack crazy...but kitten sits in the window and watches them too...

...I hope you had a fantastic weekend...

...Dinner and a Movie...

...Dinner was tortillas with homemade refried beans...beets and Foreman grilled sweet potato with some fresh spinach and radishes...

...the movie was my choice...so you knew subtitles would be involved...HA!

...I chose Good Morning

...it's a 1959 comedy film by Japanese director Yasujir┼Ź Ozu...so it's pretty old...and it was very sweetly funny...lots of flatulence jokes...and the main plot is that two boys stop speaking completely when their father tells them to be quiet...and they have been watching tv at a neighbors house and they really want a tv of their own...

...there are lots of sub-themes in the film...community...trust...and the importance of small talk in maintaining both...

...I enjoyed it...

...what have you been watching?...

...My Sister's Birthday...

...I for sure didn't want to post about this until I was certain that my sweet sissie had opened her pressie...
...I gathered some rainbow-ish colours of soft cotton yarn...and cast on 58 stitches...for some bikinisocken...they are so cute...and I thought they'd be perfect for my beachcombing sissie...
...obviously a multicoloured single stranded yarn would be better...you wouldn't have all those ends to weave in...
...still it's a very small project so it didn't take too long...
...I modified the pattern a bit by adding a few rows of ribbing at the top (toe end)...for a little bit snugger fit...
...they turned out so cute...I made another one...
...then I gathered up some other goodies...the ginger candies and candied ginger are from the SDA store...and are actually a gift from Mom...I had them because we thought I'd see Karen before Mom would...but then she left on her boat...and I didn't see her for months...the shirt is a vendor gift from an IT fair...I got it specifically for Karen because I thought their slogan was cute...a bottle of greens seasoning and a pair of flip flops complete the little giftie...
...and then I used the dishtowel to wrap it all up...

Happy Birthday to my Sissie!...

...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...I made an adorable little Baby Boy Beanie ...to go with the little hexagon sweater...
...I chose almost the exact colours from the pattern as they complimented the sweater so well...
...and over at the Church Parish Hall...the walls and trim have been painted...a nice soft grey with white trim...they've started on the new light fixtures and the new ceiling...and the floors have been sanded...ready for an epoxy coating...so no one will be able to go inside for a week while they finish the floors...
