The Busy Busy Weekend

Well NaBloPoMo is barely over
and I've already missed a day's posting in December. Oh well, we had a busy-fun-cold-snowy weekend. I had to play the organ yesterday - so I should have spent every spare moment practicing... but...

We had our first ground-covering snow Saturday - it snowed most of the day.

First I snapped a photo of the outside temp - it was 15 above - nice and warm for playing in the snow...

These people walked by exercising their sled dogs...

The Man-Cub tried using his disc as a snowboard...

Unsuccessfully...

The proper way to use a disc...
After we left the snow hill - we headed to the town's Nativity Display - flash photography is not allowed so sorry for the dark photos

- next year we'll be displaying the Peace Nativity and maybe our own - several people had their personal nativities on display - we'll see - ours is sort of old and it's ceramic so it's breakable...

Then we went to the Church and changed all the paraments to blue for Advent and set up Communion and the Advent wreath - good thing the Man had drawn directions for how that thing went together... And I put together a hotdish for tomorrow's potluck...

Then when we finally got home - we had family time - we played Cranium - love their games and then a game of Battleship - one of the Man-Cub's favorite games - then we watched 'Deck The Halls' - a funny Christmas movie from last year...

Then about 9:00 PM I went over to the church and warmed up the organ and ran through the songs for Sunday - the Man said that you couldn't play 'Soon and very soon' on the organ so I had to switch to the piano for the sending - that's hard because the organ has such a light touch - it was probably the second stanza before I was really putting enough ooomph into my keystrokes - haha...

So the organ/piano playing went pretty well - whew! After Church - it was Decorating Sunday and the kids made the paper Chrismons again for the Sanctuary tree you can get the snowflakes here http://www.paperchrismons.com/ you just print them out and fold them and then cut away the grey parts...

This is a really simple one...

Then they love climbing the ladder to hang their Chrismon on the tree...

Ahhh - so many choices...

The Man-Cub's choice...

He was so engrossed in his design that he didn't even look up when I snapped a couple of photos...
